Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer
SPF infused moisturizer, with tint for buildable coverage, and the lightweight feeling of not wearing makeup.
Do I Need Tinted Moisturizer?
Base makeup has always been simple. You find a reliable bottle of liquid foundation and your base is done. Today we have options; options for skin benefits, coverage, and wider color range. If you prefer a weightless “no makeup” look, or even coverage during outdoor activity, tinted moisturizer is the product for you. Tinted moisturizer has been around since the late 1990’s, but it seems like this multi-functional product is trending again.
Tinted moisturizer is exactly what the name entails; a moisturizer containing small amounts of skin colored tint to give a glowy complexion. Some consider tinted moisturizer a hybrid between a daily moisturizer and foundation. Some argue it is better than foundation. Both products are great, but it is important to know how they differ, and which is best for your personal routine.
Tinted Moisturizer vs. Foundation
Tinted moisturizer is not a BB or CC cream. BB cream or “blemish balm”, has a heavier texture and primarily covers blemishes. CC cream stands for “color correction”, focusing on redness and evening the skin. Tinted moisturizer contains SPF and only a hint of color, to maximize hydration and leave a luminous finish on the skin.
Foundation on the other hand, creates a base for elaborate makeup looks. The goal of foundation is evening out complexion for building, which is why the consistency is a lot more pigmented than tints and creams. Few beauty brands offer skin improving foundation, but they do exist.
Application
The main selling point for tinted moisturizer is how quick and easy the application is. Due to the small amount of pigment, “messing up” is almost impossible. There is no need for application tools like sponges and brushes.
Like daily moisturizer, tinted moisturizer can be applied the same way; small circular finger motions along the face and neck. However, tinted moisturizer does not replace regular moisturizer. You will still need to prep your skin with a regular serum or moisturizer. Once evenly distributed, you are ready for the day.
If you're looking for more structure and coverage, this is when you build up your base with concealer or contour. Tinted moisturizer is so great because you have the option of glowy lightweight coverage, or a hydrated full beat.
Now that you know everything about tinted moisturizer, you can decide what type of base fits your style the best. Makeup no longer is an enemy of skin care!
